Altesino is one of the most important but also the highest quality producers of Montalcino who even pioneered using the name of cru Montosoli in its label since the mid 70's.
This particular bottle is his "entry-level" Brunello di Montalcino, which was first released with the 1972 harvest.
It is an extremely impressive and complex wine, with excellent aromatic concentration and notes of ripe fruits such as sour cherry, black berry and plum, and hints of juniper, sage, violet, tobacco, dark chocolate and aged balsamic.
Structurally, the wine is extremely balanced, with a medium to full body, refined tannins and toned acidity.
Drink from now on and it will age for at least 12 years, which makes it an ideal "candidate resident" of your conservator…
Transfusion is necessary and the ideal serving temperature is 16 degrees Celsius.
