Clos Saint-Jean, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, 2016, Red, 750ml

Brothers Vincent and Pascal Maurel have been raising the bar year after year since taking the reins of the Clos Saint Jean estate in 2002. The 2016 vintage for Châteauneuf-du-Pape red wines was exceptionally good, with said bottling to impress! Grenache takes the lead in the blend, with Syrah and Mourvèdre contributing significantly to the wine's structure. Medium to full bodied, with moderate acidity, velvety tannins and an extremely seductive character. The aromas we will encounter are ripe black berries and raspberries, plum jam, cherry liqueur, black pepper, cedar, licorice, mocha, tobacco, lavender and wet earth. You can consume it now and for the next 8 years, decanting it at least 30 minutes before serving at around 15 to 16 degrees Celsius in a glass of red Bordeaux.
