Mullineux, Schist, Chenin Blanc, 2021, White, 750ml

Mullineux Winery was established in 2007 when Chris and Andrea Mullineux settled in the growing Swartland wine region, 60 kilometers north of Cape Town. In a very short time its reputation spread, so that by 2020, it achieved 5-star ratings in the well-known Platter’s South African Wine Guide. Mullineux Schist Chenin Blanc 2021 is an excellent white wine from the Roundstone vineyard, in the Swatland region. The vines are planted entirely on shale soils and the viticulture is organic. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and matures for 11 months in fourth-use French oak barrels. On the nose we find hints of fresh quince, pear, red millet, lime zest, peach, dried flowers, butter, honeycomb, pastry cream, combined with strong aromas of wet stone. In the mouth it impresses with the "masterful" use of barrel, the accentuated acidity and the creamy texture. Enjoy Mullineux Schist Chenin Blanc 2021, now or age it for another 10 years, in a white wine glass at around 9 to 10 degrees Celsius.
