Tsililis - Askitikos - White - 2016

For monks and hermits the vine was something more than pleasure; it was a companion and a source of food either as grape fruit or as wine.
Hermits made the wine of the year from grapes that they cultivated strictly with respect for the precious land. Then, they vinified them with classical and simple methods, highlighting the particularities of each variety and they aged the wine patiently in casks, in dark cellars. The result was wines with intense aromas, pure taste and mysterious character.
The range of Askitikos wines follows the example of the "ascetically" made wines from the past, combining the benefits of new technology. Carefully selected low-yield grapes, from high quality vineyards in Greece, are vinified under fully controlled conditions to retain all characteristics of varieties and terroir and to become delicious, high quality wines.
The white wine of the range is produced from low-yield grapes of the international varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and the Greek one Assyrtiko.
Vinified in stainless steel tanks, with prefermentative maceration before the alcoholic fermentation at low temperatures. Characterized by fresh fruity aromas lemon, mango and pineapple, fine herbal aromas and a refreshing palate with pleasant zestiness.
