Mullineux, Granite, Chenin Blanc, 2021, White, 750ml

Mullineux Winery was established in 2007 when Chris and Andrea Mullineux settled in the growing Swartland wine region, 60 kilometers north of Cape Town. In a very short time its reputation spread, so that by 2020, it achieved 5-star ratings in the well-known Platter’s South African Wine Guide.Mullineux Granite Chenin Blanc 2021 is an excellent white wine from the Eikelann vineyard, in the Swatland region. The vines are planted entirely in granitic soils, with organic cultivation and have an average age of 45 years. The wine is fermented with native yeasts and matured for 11 months in fourth-use French oak barrels.On the nose we find hints of ripe pear, apple, white-fleshed peach and citrus, dried flowers, butter, honey, patisserie cream and minerality. In the mouth the "purity" of the fruit impresses and combines well with the "masterful" use of barrel, the accentuated acidity and the long nervy/mineral aftertaste. Enjoy Mullineux Granite Chenin Blanc 2021, now or age it for another 10 years, in a white wine glass at around 9 to 10 degrees Celsius.
