Tony Bish, Heartwood, Chardonnay, White, 2021, 750ml

Tony Bish Heartwood 2021 is a "masterpiece" of modern winemaking methods from New Zealand and more specifically from the Hawke's Bay region. Tony Bish introduced concrete "egg" tanks to New Zealand for the first time in 2015 in collaboration with NZ Tanks and thus created wines that harmoniously combine the balance of fruit and barrel. The wine consists of 100% Chardonnay and is entirely fermented in 3rd-use French oak barrels and remains there for a few months along with its lees. The result is a rich and refined Chardonnay that has nothing to envy of great white Burgundies. On the nose we find intense aromas of ripe peach, pineapple, papaya, nectarine along with delicate hints of musklemon, tsourekio, baked almond, brioche, toasted bread, butter, vanilla and minerality. In the mouth it is rich with a creamy texture, pronounced acidity and a long spicy aftertaste. Enjoy Tony Bish Heartwood 2021 now or in 8 to 10 years, at 10 degrees Celsius, in a white wine glass or ideally in a Chardonnay style.
